Chapter 2 Have a good sleep

Chapter 2 Have a good night's sleep

The light bulb in the kitchen seemed to have poor contact, flickering on and off, so Su Chengyi used the light to investigate the remaining food at home.

The refrigerator compartment of the refrigerator was empty, and there were several packages of quick-frozen dumplings in the freezer. Su Chengyi picked them up and took a look at the production date. It was already half a year ago.

There was a whole box of instant noodles and a whole box of mineral water in the locker.

Su Chengyi sighed and closed the refrigerator door.

He put the two eggs given by Granny Xu on the stove, ready to cook some noodles.

When he was twelve years old, his parents divorced, and within a short period of time, they each formed a new family.

Both parties wanted to bring him into the new family, but he resisted from the bottom of his heart this feeling of needing to be forcibly integrated.

Although they are biological parents, they already have a newborn child.

When he stayed in such an environment, he always felt like an outsider.

You can only know what it feels like to live under someone else's roof.

He just wanted to escape far away, so he chose to live alone in the old house very early.

Fortunately, the school he attended was strictly managed, so he went to school early and finished school late.

He basically eats three meals a day in the school cafeteria. When he needs to eat at home, he eats instant noodles.

Su Chengyi has no talent for cooking and really has no interest in learning.

Even the simplest frying of eggs was something he only learned slowly after working.

Heat the oil in a pan and beat the eggs with one hand. He skillfully fried two golden soft-boiled eggs.

As soon as the water was boiled and ready to go, the cell phone rang in the living room.

Su Chengyi wiped his hands, followed the sound in a circle, and finally found the mobile phone that had been thrown in between the gaps in the sofa.

This is the iPhone 5s given by my father, the latest model currently available.

After the divorce, one of the ways the clumsy old father compensated Su Chengyi was to give away these expensive electronic products.

When he first started using it, he felt that the screen was too small to adapt to.

The caller ID is "Mom".

Su Chengyi was also very resistant mentally to answering the phone. Just hearing the phone ringing would make her a little anxious.

He stared at the screen and took a deep breath before pressing the answer button.

"Bang, two tubes."

Noisy voices and the sound of mahjong collision came.

The mother on the other side of the receiver hadn't realized that Su Chengyi actually answered the phone for the first time, still immersed in the world of mahjong.

"What kind of luck are you having today? The cards are getting worse each time!"

"Sister Wang, don't you want to fight? No, why should the loser leave before he opens his mouth? Keep playing... ”

It sounded like she had finished the game, and Su Chengyi finally shouted:

"Mom."

The other party quickly replied as if waking up from a dream:

"Hey! Xiaoyi!"

The originally slightly resentful tone after losing the card suddenly became gentle and graceful.

"Mom didn't notice you answered the phone. I'm sorry.

Sister Wang, I won't call. I'll talk to my son. Goodbye."

The other party seemed to leave Mahjong very quickly table, to a quiet place.

"Xiaoyi is out of school? It's past nine now, have you eaten yet?

Is your pocket money enough? Why don't you accept the red envelope your mother gave you? You have to keep it. Yeah.”

Su Chengyi hadn't answered yet, so she continued on her own:

"Today your head teacher sent me a message, explaining that parents are required to attend the 100-day swearing-in ceremony for your college entrance examination tomorrow."

"If you don't have time, you don't have to force it."

Su Chengyi said lightly, he really didn't have any mood swings.

In this kind of parent-child activities, his parents are absent too many times, and he has long been used to it.

Unexpectedly, the other party retorted in an excited tone:

"Are you kidding? How can mom not go for such an important thing?

Don't worry, I have made time."

This unexpected development made Su Chengyi stunned for a moment.

If I remember correctly, he attended the swearing-in ceremony alone in his previous life.

"Well, also, your dad also said to go.

He should drive to pick you up tomorrow morning. Remember to reply to his WeChat message and set a time. Don't forget."
< br>"Okay." Su Chengyi agreed.

After the matter was explained, the two people on both sides of the receiver fell silent.

Seeing that he was about to fall into an awkward conversation, Su Chengyi's habit of embarrassing others was about to happen again.

He quickly excused himself that the water was boiling and hung up the phone.

The water has really boiled and is making a gurgling sound.

Su Chengyi threw the noodles into the boiling water, used chopsticks in one hand to stir the noodles, and picked up the phone with the other hand to open WeChat. Several unread messages popped up at once.

The first one is from the old father. Even though he has a new family, his profile picture is still the photo of Su Chengyi when he was a child.

In the photo, he is wearing a funny tiger hat, but his face is serious and sullen, giving him a contrasting sense of humor.

"Son, I will pick you up downstairs at eight o'clock tomorrow morning. What would you like to eat?"

Su Chengyi thought for a moment and replied:

"Xiaolongbao. ”

The other party quickly replied with an “OK” expression, and quickly added a smiley face.

Su Chengyi also smiled and clicked on the second message, which was actually from Chu Qingmian.

Her avatar is a lop-eared rabbit, which seems to be the mascot from a recently popular anime.

The note he gave to Chu Qingmian was "Second Class Monitor".

"Does the milk taste good?"

It comes with a starry-eyed expression of expectation.

Su Chengyi glanced at the unopened strawberry milk next to her with a guilty conscience, then quickly put the straw in and took a sip.

So sweet and so throaty.

He frowned. Dessert had always been the food he resisted the most.

But looking at the star-eyed emoticon, he hesitated and replied against his will:

“It’s okay.”

There was no reply from the other party, and he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

The rest of the news came from the class group, most of which were about the specific arrangements for tomorrow's swearing-in meeting.

The student representative speech at the swearing-in ceremony was originally arranged for Su Chengyi, who ranked first in the last mock exam, but he decisively refused.

So this glorious task was handed over to Chu Qingmian, the second best person on the ranking list.

The squad leader probably complained about this, and used his privilege to assign Su Chengyi the job of serving tea and water to her.

Bringing the cooked noodles to the table, Su Chengyi took a big bite of the soft-boiled egg covered in soup, regardless of how hot it was.

The taste is very good, with runny egg yolk and tender egg white wrapped in oily aroma.

Perhaps I am not completely lacking in talent in cooking?

After eating and drinking, Su Chengyi washed the dishes, mopped the floor, took a shower, washed clothes, and did a thorough cleaning.

Suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder, he always has the illusion that this room has been abandoned for ten years.

After gathering everything, he looked around.

Old mahogany furniture and a few simple electrical appliances.

On the wall are posters of Roberto Baggio wearing the Italian national team jersey and David Beckham wearing the Manchester United jersey, in contrasting red and blue.

Although this old room has a sense of age, he has kept it very clean and tidy, which gives him a sense of accomplishment.

As I lay contentedly on the bed and prepared to go to bed, my cell phone rang "ding ding ding" several times. It was a message bombardment from Chu Qingmian.

"It's okay! This is my favorite milk!"

"I just went to take a shower."

"I'll bring you another box tomorrow."

"It's all my fault that you were a deserter and I had to give a speech. I was so nervous that I couldn't sleep."

Su Chengyi was a little confused as to which reply to make, and the last thing he sent was:

"Sorry, have a good sleep."

The other party's name column hovered between "Second Class Monitor" and "The other party is typing" many times.

The last thing that appeared was a "good night" emoticon, a rabbit holding the moon.

This probably means ending the chat.

Su Chengyi did not reply, exited the WeChat interface, and slowly closed his eyes.
