Chapter 7 The Lost Bear

Chapter 7 The Lost Bear

The Arctic icebergs are all white. From a distance, only the dividing line between heaven and earth can be seen, and the rest is vast.

Guo Mi didn't know the way, so he could only choose one direction, and then walked a long way, trying to find food by chance.

The only advantage is that there is snow everywhere. You can take a few bites by lowering your head without worrying about dying of thirst.

But she only eats a small amount each time, and then holds it in her mouth until it melts before swallowing.

Now she needs to do everything possible to ensure that her body temperature does not drop, and she is afraid that swallowing the ice directly will make her stomach, which is not adapted to the Arctic, even more fragile.

If you start to have stomach upset at this time, it will really be "adding insult to injury".

After running for half an hour, Guo Mi finally ran out of breath. He sat down on the snow, spread out his limbs, opened his mouth and nose, and gasped for air.

Suddenly a faint breath penetrated into the nasal cavity along the tip of his nose, and Guo Mi paused instantly!

After a while, he twitched his nose uncertainly and sniffed twice more!

The doubt in his eyes turned into shock!

Guo Mi sat up suddenly and turned around to look behind him!

...The surrounding area is completely white, except for a few dead trees protruding from the snow and one or two protruding rocks, there is nothing else.

Guo Mi rolled over unbelievingly and stood up, took two steps back, raised his head and sucked in the air twice more!

Icy cold air poured into the nasal cavity.

Although her sense of smell was weakened a lot due to the cold weather, she could not mistake it. This was the smell of the two little bears!

Guo Mi pawed at the snow on the ground anxiously, his eyes constantly scanning the surroundings.

She has been running for half an hour, so logically she should not be able to smell the bear.

Now there are only two possibilities for her to smell the bear. One is that the two little furballs secretly followed her.

The other one she doesn’t want to face is——

Could it be that she had lost her sense of direction for the past half hour and was traveling in circles in the same place? !

Guo Mi's heart sank to the bottom instantly. If this was really the case, it meant that she could easily get lost in the snow!

This is really not good news.

She looked around, and finally fixed her gaze on a dead branch in the distance, then raised her paws and trotted towards the dead tree.

If you set a goal before every run, you should be less likely to get lost.

And just after the series of footprints left by Guo Mi, a small head suddenly popped up from the snow. His little paws stepped on the huge paw prints she left, and he turned around and asked in confusion:

"Why is she running back?"

The other little polar bear, which is slightly larger, also Climbing out of the snow, looking at the long series of footprints left in the snow, Doudou’s eyes were also very confused:

“I don’t know.”

The little male bear lowered his head. He sniffed the footprints left by Guo Mi, and then rubbed his sister's body:

"Do we really want to follow her?"

"Yes." The other little bear looked very assertive:

"At present, it seems that she is the only bear that will not attack us. Behind her, we can use her scent to disguise ourselves as mother, and other bears will think that we still have mother’s cubs. This will prevent them from catching up with us and killing us after smelling our scent.”

一Speaking of his mother, the little male bear felt a little sad, his little ears drooping.

The other little bear licked his forehead soothingly, stood up and took the lead in following the footprints left by Guo Mi and chased after him:

"Let's go." On the other side, Guo Mi ran wildly for another half an hour, and then...

She was horrified to find that she actually smelled the smell of a female bear's corpse? !

Looking at the increasingly familiar scenery around him, Guo Mi hesitantly raised his paws to move forward, but finally put them down and sat down on the ground.

What's going on? !

The smell of the little bear still appeared vaguely. Guo Mi suddenly thought of something and his eyes lit up!

Since she can smell the smell of cubs and mother bears, she can also smell her own smell!

Thinking of this, she quickly lowered her head, pressed her nose tightly to the ground, began to smell her own scent, and then remembered it consciously.

Many animals rely on scent to identify directions. This is their innate talent.

Human sense of smell is far less sensitive. Although Guo Mi has been a bear for a long time, he has not yet fully adapted. In addition, there are lush flowers, plants and trees in the woods, which are far better than the roads here. Okay, so I didn’t even think of using this talent.

The scenery is similar, but the smell is unique!

As long as you remember your own scent, you don’t have to worry about going in circles when you are on the road. At the same time, you can follow the scent you left behind to return to where you want to go.

This way you don’t have to worry about getting lost!

Guo Mi mentally praised himself, then rested for a while, then picked a new direction and started running wildly!

The two little bears followed Guo Mi's scent back to the original place, and then looked at each other in the direction she left. The little male bear said with a cry:

"Sister, I can't run anymore."

The bigger bear gritted his teeth and followed:

"Quickly walk, run even if you can't run, we have to survive!"

Two hours later, Master Xiong, who had been busy all day, finally gave up looking for the beach and collapsed on the snow.

Guo Mi pressed her face tightly against the snow, exhaling a burst of white mist, feeling a little frustrated. It seemed that she was destined to be hungry today.

At the same time, the smell of some other living things flows into the nasal cavity with the breath.

Two smells, one of which is very familiar, it is the two little bears!

Guo Mi opened her eyes. Now she was sure that she was not going in circles anymore. So, were there two little tails following her? !

She looked around carefully, trying to find the two little hairballs, but the result was not what the bear expected.

The snow-white fur of the polar bear is a natural camouflage in the ice and snow. What's more, although her sense of smell is greatly reduced, she can still smell the smell one kilometer away.

In other words, the two cubs were probably not within her field of vision at all.

Guo Mi finally gave up after searching to no avail.

Just follow them, just pretend she doesn’t smell them, she will never bring them with her anyway!

Thinking of this, Guo Mi lay down on the snow again, closed his eyes and began to rest.

Running for a long time consumes too much energy, and since it was daytime and the temperature had not dropped to unbearable levels, Guo Mi just lay down in the snow and fell asleep unknowingly.

I don’t know how long it took, but the sound of dense and messy snow being trampled and collapsed suddenly sounded in my ears. After a while, the sound became louder and louder!

Guo Mi was awakened, raised his head, and looked confusedly towards the place where the sound came from:

Two small white hair balls squirmed out from the top of a snow slope, rolling continuously. Run towards her on the ground!

Guo Mi blinked and squinted his eyes to see more clearly. Then two seconds later, a larger figure appeared on the top of the snow slope!

Pictures from the documentary:

"Polar Bear, Detective on Ice"

No prizes for guessing, so did Guo Mi get lost in the first place?
