Chapter 4765 Self-Contradiction

Chapter 4765 Self-Contradiction

Fang Jun chuckled and said disapprovingly: "Then who can blame you? If you go deep into Buddhism, all six roots will be broken and the four elements will be empty. However, you are greedy for the world and fall into the world of mortals. The cassock on your body is stained with dust. In the end, it cannot be wiped away, and the dust seals your heart. But you blame everyone, why bother?”

Therefore, Buddhism today is actually divided. A small number of people regard "Buddha Nature" as the truth and the true meaning they pursue throughout their lives, while most people only regard "Buddha" as a means and a tool to make profits.

The two sides are seen as one, but in fact they are completely different.

When Buddhism begins to covet power in the world, it means that it has deviated from the original intention of "Buddha", and this so-called "Buddha" has long been borrowed by greedy people as a tool to seize power in the world. What they believe in is not "Buddha" or "beyond the world". ", but the bustling and noisy mortal world.

Xuanzang was silent for a moment and shook his head: "Buddha nature lies in 'enlightenment', and the root of 'enlightenment' lies in 'knowledge'. If we don't even know what Buddha nature is, how can we talk about 'enlightenment'? So we are not human beings." If people believe in Buddhism, everyone can have a glimpse of the great truth. The so-called "Buddha is in the heart" and "everyone can be a Buddha" are actually just false words. The Buddha said that all living beings are equal, but this is not true. "

He looked at Fang Jun, his clear eyes were somewhat deep, and his tone was leisurely: "Some people are born with knowledge, some people are dull and clumsy, some people are dedicated to good, and some people do evil all over the world. People are different, so some people can concentrate on calmness." By cultivating the Dao, his spiritual level transcends the pursuit of everything in the world, while some people can only wallow in the mortal world and suffer hardships but cannot escape."

Who is the destined person?

Naturally, they are those who are proficient in Buddhism and have great aspirations.

The rest are naturally unlucky people.

What to do with those who have no chance?

They can only reincarnate in the mud of the mortal world, no different from animals.

However, the nature of the Buddha is inherently good, and he should not only help those who are destined, but also should not discriminate against those who are not destined. Therefore, it is understandable that those who are destined to stand in a quiet place, study the Buddha's teachings and gain a glimpse of the great road, while those who are not destined to use all means to pursue fame and wealth, and amass money.

Fang Junqi said: "Master himself is deeply troubled and the Buddha's mind is in chaos. How come he thinks those lay people are right?"

Xuanzang said: "The poor monk is a human being, not a Buddha. Being upset is just a temporary realization. It is okay to talk to an old friend and feel refreshed. But those people who have no destiny are just doing it on their own, and there is nothing wrong with it. . Both the poor monk’s worries and those people’s pursuits can coexist. What’s wrong with that?”

Fang Jun thought about it for a while before he understood what Xuanzang meant: I am annoyed with myself, but what they do is what they should do from their standpoint. I will not force them not to do what they should do just because I am upset...< br>

Fang Jun felt that his realm was shallow and he didn't understand the difference between Xuanzang's thinking and that of an ostrich. He could only sigh that he was indeed an eminent monk, but he was different from normal people.

"Master has a broad vision and an open mind. Since he understands the reasons why, why bother about others?"

"The poor monk has already said that he is just a mortal, and he is not a Buddha who has perfected the state of great freedom. He has to experience birth, old age, illness, death, love, separation, resentment, and not being able to ask for anything. However, the state of the poor monk is improving, and he may one day be able to achieve great compassion. ”

Fang Jun didn't understand Buddhism, be it Mahayana or Hinayana. He didn't even know the specific differences between them, but he felt that the logic seemed difficult to justify.

For example, what is the state of great compassion mentioned by Xuanzang?

It means "generating a heart of great compassion, seeing all sentient beings as suffering, and making a wish to save all sentient beings." However, since it is "making a wish", it means "asking for something". "No", then "hate-hate meetings", "love-separation", etc. will follow one after another and will be difficult to get rid of.

Isn't it contradictory to say that "Buddha-nature is empty" and at the same time have "great compassion"?

……

When Cen Changqian stepped into the temple gate, the melodious bells stopped. The monks doing evening classes in the courtyard got up and left one after another. The crowds of people were shaking and rubbing shoulders. Although everyone was solemn and silent, so many monks gathered in one place without the solemnity of the past. The solemn piety is a little more busy and vulgar.

Looking at the monk Zhike who rushed to greet him, Cen Changqian asked: "How many monks are there in the temple now?"

When monk Zhike saw that Cen Changqian was leading a group of elite soldiers but did not dare to stop him, he looked a little sad: "It has exceeded three thousand, and there are also pilgrims from all over the place staying. There are no rooms in the temple, and the disciples of this temple even have to let them go." Leave the house to stay temporarily in the woodshed. In the past, it was always overcrowded during various festivals, but you could go to other temples in the city to live temporarily. But now there are no free temples in Guanzhong, so there is nothing you can do.”

Buddhism values tranquility, self-control, and aloofness from the world. It is more willing to sit back and collect money through lending, leasing, etc. Accepting money from pilgrims for scented oil is not the most important income. Although people cannot live without money, Buddhism does not like the current overcrowded atmosphere. How can this be the number one Buddhist temple in the world? It is simply more lively than the east and west cities.

The key is that when there are many people, it becomes complicated, which will always cause some troubles and make people miserable...

Cen Changqian walked with her hands behind her back, stopped at the mountain gate, and said calmly: "Where is the monk who was accused of molestation just now? Please hand him over, monk. I will take him back for detailed investigation. I will settle this matter as soon as possible and return it to you." The temple is innocent.”

Monk Zhike looked embarrassed: "It's not just the poor monk who is prevaricating, but if you want to take away the monks from this temple, you must first nod."

"The Jinwu Guards are ordered by the emperor to control the capital, and they have the power to enforce the law no matter who is involved. How can the Daci'en Temple disrespect the emperor's orders and ignore the laws of the Tang Dynasty? No one can stop the Jinwu Guards from taking people. However, the Daci'en Temple is a royal temple. The necessary decency can be given, just go and ask for instructions, but no matter what your wishes are, I must take the person away.”

Monk Zhike was helpless. The Zuo Jinwu Guard Chief Shi in front of him was powerful and aggressive, but he was Cen Wenwen's nephew, Fang Jun's student, and now the Chief of the Army. He indeed had such tough qualifications.

The young man was high-spirited and arrogant. Monk Zhike confirmed that as long as he dared to refuse, he would dare to lead his troops into the temple to seize people...

"Please benefactor, please wait here for a moment. The poor monk will come when he leaves."

I was dissatisfied, so I didn't even have the courtesy to ask Cen Changqian to sit down and have a cup of tea, so I just let Cen Changqian stand by the stone steps inside the mountain gate and hurried away.

Cen Changqian didn't take it seriously and looked back at the soldiers standing behind her. Their armors were fully equipped and their military appearance was neat. Each of them had their hands behind their backs and their chests raised and their heads raised solemnly. They fully demonstrated the power, domineering and strict discipline of the soldiers of the Tang Dynasty, and she was very satisfied.

Monk Zhike quickly came to the Sutra Translation Courtyard. When he entered, he saw Xuanzang and Fang Jun sitting across from each other drinking tea. They seemed to be discussing some issues in Buddhism. He said respectfully: "Shi Cenchangqian, the chief of Zuojinwu's guard, requested to report the matter involved." The monks were taken to investigate in detail. It is related to the reputation of Daci’en Temple and I dare not do anything about it. Please give me your instructions.”

Xuanzang was explaining the difference between Mahayana and Hinayana to Fang Jun, using it to explain the "contradiction of Buddhism" raised by Fang Jun. He seemed to want to use his lifelong learning to enlighten the "hard rock" in front of him. Now he was beaten. He stopped talking, lost interest in the conversation, and waved his hand helplessly. : "Let him take him there. If those monks were wrongly accused, the reputation of Da Ci'en Temple cannot be destroyed by anyone who wants to. If they really do the unforgivable thing, what reputation does Da Ci'en Temple have?" What’s the reputation?”

The monk Zhike responded: "I will obey my master's orders."

Seeing the monk Zhike walking out quickly, Xuanzang shook his head and said calmly: "The stars are changing, the spring is prosperous and the autumn is harvested, as well as life and death, death and nirvana, everything operates within the rules, without exception. The same should be done in the human world. That’s right, when the rules are established and everyone has their own duties and duties, the world will naturally be unified, but no one seems to understand this truth.”

"Master, you are wrong. You seem to have some misunderstandings about the establishment of rules. Rules are set up for those who do not abide by the rules. If everyone follows the rules, what is the use of having rules?"

Xuanzang was stunned for a moment and praised: "What a wonderful thing to say!"

*****

The 108 squares of Chang'an City were designed and built in the pattern of a military fortress. There are tall walls between the squares. If a foreign enemy invades, not only can each square be used as an isolated military unit, but also Cooperate with each other to defend against foreign enemies.

The planning and design of the squares are also similar. Each square has two streets running east-west and north-south throughout the square, which facilitates the deployment of troops and transportation of baggage during wartime. The two streets will intersect in the middle of each square. It forms a crossroads.

The Wei family residence is located in the northeast corner of Jinchangfang.

Lai Ji came to the door of Wei's house with his servants, respectfully handed over his name card, and told his disciples: "I have been here as the county magistrate for ten thousand years. My elders have always had friendship with your house. Although I am here on business today, I am not here." I would like to break into the house and ask you to hand over all the members of the caravan that passed by Daci'en Temple this evening and apologize."

He is a very affectionate person, thinking about the friendship between the Lai and Wei families, so he keeps his posture very low.

His posture was low, but his disciples did not dare to neglect him. Although the magistrate of Wannian County was only a fifth-rank official, Jingzhao Weishi did not take it seriously, but Wannian County was the capital of Jingxian County where most of the Wei family's properties were located. Under the jurisdiction, parents from a county now come to visit, naturally accompanied by smiling faces, first invite Ji to the entrance room to drink tea for a while, and then quickly enter the house to report.

Not long after, the disciple returned, bowed with a smile and said: "The master of the house was very happy to hear that an old friend came to visit. Please come in and talk."

Laiji happily entered.

Although the family never gave up on themselves after the decline of the family and always strived for the top, facing the courtesy of Jingzhao Weishi, Laiji still felt complacent and proud. Who can be "invited" to Jingzhao Webster's family, who is not a person who has become famous or has a bright future? This recognition from a top aristocratic family warms the hearts of people like Laiji who have gone through hardships.
