Chapter 649 Interstellar Travel

Chapter 649 Interstellar Crossing

"Wang Shu won the Academy Award for Best Director again?"

Director Chen turned his head to look at Chen Hong and asked in shock.

In a week's time, "The Orphan of Zhao" will start filming. Director Chen was originally in a good mood, but when he learned that Wang Shu had won the Academy Award for the second time, he suddenly felt bad.

"Yes." Chen Hong responded, ""Life of Pi" won Wang Shu another Academy Award for Best Director."

After speaking for a moment, he paused and then continued, "I have said before that Wang Shu may win another statuette. You still don't believe it. Do you believe it this time?"

She had asked Wang Shu about related matters before, and Wang Shu answered quite confidently, obviously looking forward to winning the prize.

Although I don’t know why Wang Shu is so confident, the fact is that Wang Shu did win the Oscar for Best Director.

Director Chen was silent when he heard this. He had also been to Hollywood, and returned home in despair after throwing himself on the street.

In contrast, when Wang Shu went to Hollywood, he not only did not rush into the street, but also got better and better as he got better and better.

In addition, he now holds two Academy Awards for Best Director, and he still won them.

In comparison, it seems that he, a Palme d'Or director, has no weight.

"How do you know Wang Shu can win another Oscar?" Director Chen asked in a depressed mood.

Chen Hong answered without thinking: "I have seen the movie "Life of Pi"."

"The photography is very good and the artistry is very high. Under normal circumstances, nine times out of ten, I can win a grand prize."

"Now "The Hurt Locker" won the Best Picture Award and Wang Shu won the Best Director Award, just as expected."

"Of course, if the Oscars are biased in this session, then Wang Shu will definitely not win the award."

"The result now is that there is no bias at this Oscar. The two movies that are most likely to win the award won the grand prize respectively."

"As for Cameron's "Avatar", I think you also know that the Oscars do not like commercial films, so it is expected that it will not win the award."

After Director Chen heard these words, he fell silent again.

Although she really didn't want to admit it, Chen Hong did make sense.

"Life of Pi" was called a work that was impossible to film and television in Europe and the United States. Wang Shu not only filmed it, but also made it very successful, with a high artistic level.

Just based on this, it seems like you can win a big prize.

It’s just that we all know that the Oscars are not completely fair and impartial, and there are also biases.

In this case, it is impossible for Wang Shu to connect with the banker.

Who would have thought that Wang Shu would actually win the battle!

Director Chen felt uncomfortable.

He is the director of the Palme d'Or. Looking at the whole country, even Zhang Yimou is inferior to him in terms of awards and honors.

And now, Wang Shulianzhuang has won the Best Director Award at the world's most influential Academy Awards!

Director Chen answered in a muffled voice: "Under normal circumstances, it is impossible for Wang Shu to win. I don't know what went wrong at this Oscar, but Wang Shu actually won."

"How come it's impossible to be the winner?" Chen Hong was not happy with this statement. "The artistic value of "Life of Pi" is clearly that it has the ability to win an Oscar."

"Under normal circumstances, "Life of Pi" should be able to win the award, not not win the award."

This was indeed true, and Director Chen could not refute it for a while.

He sighed and said, "Just take it, what's the big deal?"

"Our next most important work is the play "The Orphan of Zhao"."

"Making this movie well is better than anything else."

When Chen Hong heard what he said, she did not continue the topic of Wang Shu winning the award, but instead discussed the drama "The Orphan of Zhao" with him.

The drama "The Orphan of Zhao" stars Ge You, Wang Xueqin, Huang Xiaoming, Fan Binbin, Hai Qing, Zhang Fengyi, Zhao Wenzhuo and others.

Through this drama, the relationship between Fan Binbin and Wang Xueqin continues to deepen.

In March 2010, 65-year-old Wang Xueqin gave away his wife of 40 years with 2 million.

Later, rumors about his affair with Fan Binbin spread.

Wang Xueqin responded angrily: "You can't ruin me like this!"

Fan Binbin responded: "Old Wang! Xiao Fan, I'm sorry for you, I've caused you trouble! It's dangerous to be a colleague with me, and it's become a 'cohabitation'!"

And this started when a big V with over a million fans broke the news that "the famous director exposed Fan Binbin as a mistress and forced Wang Xueqin to divorce, and they have been living together for 2 years."

During the filming of "The Orphan of Zhao", a director said this: "The love affair between Fan Binbin and Wang Xueqin has spread in the industry, and it is no longer a secret!"

In 2009, Wang Xueqin and Fan Binbin filmed "Wheat Field" together, and later collaborated again in "October Siege". At the press conference of "The Orphan of Zhao", the two even took a photo of "holding hands".

Wang Xueqin was very angry about this: "We work in the same studio, and we do have a lot of contact. We have a lot of cooperation, but we can't be wasted like this! She is a very upright person and works hard. I am so old, but she is still young and has It’s a great future, it’s not fair to her.”

Fan Binbin said directly: "Come at me if you have any questions, don't involve senior anymore."

Later, Fan Binbin's anti-gang website also posted that this photo was taken at the "The Orphan of Zhao" movie conference. At that time, Fan Binbin and Wang Xueqin wanted to pick up the microphone to speak at the same time, so the photographer misplaced the photo and captured it.

After being widely spread rumors, Fan Binbin and Wang Xueqin insisted that they were friends in life and work partners, and there was no inappropriate relationship.

The anti-gang station also said: "Being in the entertainment industry should bear the responsibility of entertaining the public, but when everyone has their own interests to pursue, do they also need to consider right and wrong and the bottom line of entertainment?"

Regarding this situation, many people have accused them of spreading rumors.

But these rebuttals, after Xiao Wang posted a Weibo...

However, no matter what, Fan Binbin is not following Wang Xueqin.

It was the studio established by Fan Binbin that signed Wang Xueqin. It was precisely because of signing in Fan Binbin's studio that Wang Xueqin's stardom began to broaden.

Of course, Wang Xueqin has been in the industry for so many years and has some connections.

……

Los Angeles.

Wang Shu said goodbye to Tabu and was busy socializing again.

As the Oscar director of Lianzhuang, it is inevitable to receive invitations to some cocktail parties.

He would go to some invitations, but he would simply ignore some invitations.

"Shu, congratulations on winning the Oscar for Best Director again."

Swifty and Sister Shitou came to Wang Shu's home to celebrate him winning the award.

"Thank you." Wang Shu responded with a smile, and then said, "Congratulations on your single ranking No. 1 on the Billboard."

"Haha." Swift said with a smile, "Shu, thank you for this. Without the song you wrote, this single would not have reached the number one spot."

Wang Shu listened politely and said: "If you hadn't performed well enough, this song wouldn't be so brilliant." Sister Shitou couldn't listen anymore and said speechlessly: "Okay, okay, can you?" Don’t compliment each other like this? Goosebumps arose all over the place.”

When Wang Shu and Swift heard this, they looked at each other and smiled.

Then I went to the kitchen, washed some fruits, and brought out some desserts.

While eating dessert, Swift asked: "Shu, are you going to start filming that movie with Paramount next?"

Seeing Sister Shitou looking over, Wang Shu nodded and said, "Yes."

"How long will the filming take?" Swift asked immediately.

Wang Shu replied with a smile: "The booking period is three months, but since it is mainly about real shooting, it is a bit difficult to complete the shooting within three months."

"The fastest, it should take half a year."

"Okay." Swift responded with some disappointment.

Sister Shitou asked curiously: "Shu, after you finish filming this movie, will you go back to China or stay here?"

Swifty was also very curious and looked at Wang Shu after hearing this.

Please...you...Collect_6Ⅰ9ⅠBookⅠ(Six\\\Nine\\\Book\\\!)

Wang Shu responded: "Not sure, we'll see when the time comes."

Sister Shitou nodded and didn't ask any more questions.

Then the three of them went out for dinner together and returned to Wang Shu's apartment.

March 15th.

"Interstellar" officially starts shooting in Los Angeles.

Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, etc.

After Wang Shu’s recommendation and participation in the casting process, the original cast of Nolan’s version was basically maintained.

Wang Shu teamed up with cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema for the first time to combine Imax, VistaVision and 35mm anamorphic format to create "Interstellar".

Wang Shu referred to Nolan's version of "Interstellar" and estimated that the entire film will be about 170 minutes long.

Some of the lenses were shot in the 15-perf 65mm Imax format, and the rest were shot in a combination of 35mm anamorphic and 8-perf VistaVision.

Van Hoytema knew that the MSM9802Imax camera functioned similarly to most film cameras, so his research focused on the composition and operability of large-format photography.

He found Wang Shu and said bluntly: "Shu, the principle of framing this way will be simpler."

"The aspect ratio of Imax images is 1.43:1, which is square. This size makes the picture easier to see without having to observe the key points yourself, so the composition ends up more in the center of the viewfinder. You can shoot a wider angle lens and get the same effect as a close-up ”

“What if we used this incredibly beautiful medium? Its depth of field, sharpness and size are so great that we could create a more personal feel with macro focus and shallow depth of field. Imax lenses render faces beautifully. They Like a large format static portrait.”

Wang Shu heard this and adopted the other party's suggestion.

As filming progressed, the production team used several sets of large-format Hasselblad lenses provided by Imax, and Panavision's chief optical engineer Dan Sasaki provided two custom lenses: a 50mm T2 lens with 2-foot macro focus, And the 80mmT2Mamiya lens.

Beyond that, most of the Imax footage was shot with custom 50 and 80mm lenses.

Despite the scale of "Interstellar," Wang wanted to make it a very moving story, which required the crew to work hard to capture the characters in dense, handheld close-ups.

Considering the Imax’s wider frame, 1 to +3 diopters will help van Hoytema get as close to the subject as possible.

Van Hoytema also used a Panavision-style dovetail handle and shoulder pads, while Sasaki also shortened the MSM9802's viewfinder, brightened its mirror path, and pushed its bayonet forward on the body. This allowed Van Hoytema to more easily handle the 75-pound camera and 1,000-foot film cassette.

The crew's custom anamorphic lens package has a focal length range of 28mm to 100mm, with a minimum focus point of 2 feet across the board at T2 aperture.

Each lens is based on an existing design: a USG 28mm, a C-series 35-50mm, a D-series 40mm, and an E-series 75-100mm.

The crew built a 65mm T2.0 lens with a 9-foot macro focus from scratch.

Van Hoytema said: "It's like a macro lens,"

"But there's a price: if you adjust the lens to favor close-ups, the wide-angle lens will be a little softer."

Sasaki also tweaked Van Hoytema's anamorphic lenses to create a specific type of bloom, "which would be warmer and softer than the cold, hard streaks typical of anamorphic lenses."

Wang Shu is just a director, and many things are not as professional as a professional photographer.

During this process, he clearly expressed the lens effect he wanted, and the photographers immediately followed his requirements and tried their best to complete it.

After a day's work, Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and others were a little tired.

The current filming is not in Iceland, nor in the three eastern provinces of China, but in a studio in Los Angeles.

Because the shots currently being shot are mainly indoor scenes and will be completed in the built studio.

After this part of the filming is completed, we will go to Iceland for filming.

Then I went to the three northeastern provinces to take pictures of corn fields.

In short, the first scene of the movie will be shot at the end.

You may know that Wang Shu is a great director who has won two Academy Awards in a row. Although Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and others were a little tired from Wang Shu's torment, they did not complain. They were all very happy. Complete the interpretation of the role seriously.

They knew very well that it was a rare opportunity to collaborate with Wang Shu on this blockbuster.

Even though they are all well-known actors, they cherish them all.

Wang Shu was also very satisfied with this.

What he wants is this kind of self-aware actor. In this way, he can save a lot of time, effort and worry.

Hollywood crews, after all, have a system of arriving at work at a certain time and leaving at a certain time.

Wang Shu, as a director, is the same.

Although flexible labor can be used to rush filming, Wang Shu thinks this model is very good.

Everyone has plenty of rest time.

Of course, for the producers, it is definitely better to work overtime for filming.

Because this can save costs and save a lot of money.

Wang Shu's One Tree work is also one of the producers.

But having said that, as a person who worked his way up from the bottom, he has not turned into a dragon, so he thinks that Hollywood's model of going to work at a certain time and getting off work at a certain time is good.

"Shu, do you want to have a drink tonight?" Anne Hathaway invited Wang Shu.

As a director, Wang Shu knew that establishing a good relationship with the actors on the crew would be beneficial to the filming of the film, so he smiled and said: "Okay."

When Anne Hathaway heard Wang Shu's promise, a faint smile appeared on her pretty face and said: "Matthew and the others will go together too."

Wang Shu nodded. He originally wanted to build a relationship with the actors on the crew for future filming, so naturally he would not have any objections.
