Chapter 107 Overprotection is a double-edged sword
"Xia Mi, Xia Mi, did something happen to you?"
Jiang Shengmei knocked on the door and called Xia Mi at the top of her lungs.
The snake's attention was distracted, and it first turned to look in the direction of the door, and then seemed to be hesitating whether to run.
Xia Mi didn't dare to speak, and silently chanted crazily in her heart, begging it to leave quickly.
Seeing that there was no movement inside, the old couple outside the door became even more nervous, and Jiang Weidong knocked on the door harder and harder.
"Otherwise we just break down the door. Normal people can't sleep like this."
The noise at the door became louder and louder, and the snake stared in the direction of the door. Xia Mi could only place his hope on it being scared away.
Huo Jingchen went uphill and saw someone banging on his door. It was too late and he couldn't see who they were.
"Who?!"
Hearing the voice of Huo Jingchen, Jiang Weidong said urgently, "Stop talking, something seems to have happened to your wife. I can't open this door of your house even after hitting it seven or eight times. Come here and help, let's break it open together!"
He hit it seven or eight times in a row, and now his shoulder hurts.
As soon as she heard something happened to Xia Mi, Huo Jingchen rushed to the door of her house.
"It can't be broken open. I was worried about the typhoon before I left. It was specially reinforced." Huo Jingchen explained, his voice trembling when he spoke.
"..."
Jiang Weidong touched his aching shoulder and gasped.
After finishing speaking, Huo Jingchen's mind was racing. Soon, he looked at the wall next to him. He took a few steps back, then suddenly burst forward and climbed over the courtyard wall easily.
Before that, Jiang Weidong's banging on the door had successfully driven the snake away.
Just as Natsumi was about to let her guard down and escape, she witnessed another, larger snake crawling across her floor and out the window.
She almost screamed again and hurriedly bit the back of her hand so hard that her mouth was filled with the taste of rust.
The big snake had strange patterns on its body, which looked very strange in the dark night. Xia Mi was worried that one of them would crawl away and another one would crawl away, so he huddled in the corner and did not dare to move.
Under the moonlight, Huo Jingchen climbed over the courtyard wall and stood under the courtyard wall to witness the snake crawling out of the room. His breathing was stagnant and his eyes were full of worry and fear.
The snake disappeared quickly.
"Xia Mi."
Huo Jingchen knocked on the door, hating that he had reinforced all the doors before leaving. He didn't expect that the person he guarded would be him.
He didn't expect that reinforcement would also harm Xia Mi.
"Jingchen?" Xia Mi was in a daze, mistakenly thinking that he was frightened and hallucinating.
Huo Jingchen walked to the yard, stretched out her hand to lift the curtain, and the bright moonlight poured into the room. Through the moonlight, Huo Jingchen saw Xia Mi huddled in the corner of the bed.
There were tears in the corners of her eyes, and she looked at him with surprise.
"Don't be afraid, I'm back. Open the door."
Huo Jingchen suddenly appeared beside the bed, which surprised and delighted Xia Mi. She almost thought the snake had become a spirit.
After making sure there was no snake, she ran out of the room with a flashlight and opened the door.
Huo Jingchen has already arrived at the door.
Xia Mi had been curled up for too long and was frightened, so her legs were so weak that she fell down as soon as she opened the door.
Huo Jingchen took the person into his arms steadily and comforted her softly, "It's okay. I'm back. It's okay."
The side of Xia Mi's face was pressed against Huo Jingchen's chest, and the strong heartbeat made her gradually regain a sense of security and regain her sanity.
"There were snakes in my room just now, more than one."
Under the silver-white moonlight, Xia Mi's face was pale, with a morbid beauty on his whole face, and his lips were pursed.
She didn't want to stay in the house, it was all dark and she couldn't see anything clearly.
Afraid that another snake would spring out somewhere.
Huo Jingchen coaxed patiently, thinking that Jiang Weidong and Jiang Shengmei were still waiting outside, so she comforted them for a while and then opened the door.
Xia Mi sat in the yard, frowning, staring at the window without moving his eyes.
Huo Jingchen opened the door. "How is Xia Mi? What happened?"
Jiang Shengmei rushed into the yard in a hurry.
When Xia Mi heard the noise, he turned to look at Jiang Shengmei and Jiang Weidong. This look almost sent the couple away.
Because of the fright, Xia Mi's face was pale and her lips were stained with blood. Under the moonlight, the color of her lips deepened, her hair was draped casually behind her shoulders, and she didn't wear any shoes on her feet.
After Jiang Shengmei saw it, she was first frightened and then worried.
Xia Mi was always quiet in front of everyone and didn't talk much.
"The weather is getting hot, and snakes have come to the house. She said there were more than one. When I just turned in, I saw a big one running away."
Jiang Shengmei's legs felt weak after hearing this, so she walked over to care about Xia Mi.
"I just heard your voice. Just be okay, just be okay." Jiang Shengmei, like an elder, stroked Xia Mi's hair and murmured.
Jiang Weidong frowned when he saw the person's condition.

"Why are you back? I didn't receive any news about your return tonight."
Jiang Weidong asked Huo Jingchen.
"The matter is almost settled. I took the last boat back." Huo Jingchen's eyes did not leave Xia Mi.
"I have avenged Captain Fu."
Huo Jingchen's voice was very soft, and these words were enough to make Jiang Weidong tremble.
"What did you say?"
"The matter cannot be explained clearly in one or two sentences. I will explain it in detail tomorrow."
The light outside was bright, and Huo Jingchen discovered that there were wounds on the back of Xia Mi's hands.
Jiang Shengmei also noticed, "Why are these hands like this? Come to my house quickly. Xiaoling came back with some disinfectant last time. I will take you to bandage it."
Xia Mi's consciousness gradually returned. He lowered his eyes and saw the wound on the back of his hand, and shook his head in rejection.
"I still have purple potion at home."
Seeing that both of them had slippers on their feet, Captain Jiang was so panicked that he didn't even notice that his coat was on inside out.
"Sister-in-law, I'm fine. Now that Jingchen is back, you should go back and rest early,"
"Okay, let's go back first. I still have realgar at home. I'll send you some tomorrow. Jingchen is back, so don't be afraid."
The moment Jiang Shengmei saw Xia Mi, she finally understood what it meant to feel pity for me.
Xia Mi nodded and forced a smile, "Sister-in-law, I'm sorry for delaying your rest."
"What you said is true. We are all neighbors. If there is no delay, you can go to bed early." Jiang Shengmei asked worriedly, turning back in three steps.
"Yeah, don't be afraid, your Jingchen is very good at catching snakes."
When Jiang Shengmei heard that something was wrong, she raised her hand and said, "What are you talking about? Go home and sleep."
After the two left, Xia Mi could still vaguely hear their conversation while sitting in the yard.
Huo Jingchen locked the door, then went into the house and found candles. He lit three candles in total, and the main room became bright.
"Go in, I will accompany you to the study to sleep tonight."
Huo Jingchen squatted down and looked at the person sitting on the small bench. Their eyes merged in the air.
"Why are you injured?"
Xia Mi smelled a smell of blood and thought it was on the back of his hand. He looked down and found that it was Huo Jingchen's thigh and there were scratches on his arms.
Huo Jingchen was confused and followed her gaze, only to find that there was a cut on her thigh.
He was stunned, "It should be scratched by the broken glass in the yard. It's not a big deal. Let's go in first."
The wound was not deep, but Xia Mi just didn't want Huo Jingchen to have any more scars.
Broken glass was poured beside the courtyard wall for protection. Seeing the injuries on his body, she had already guessed that he climbed in through the courtyard wall.
