Chapter 1 Wedge

Chapter 1 Wedge

In the twenty-eighth year of Jingping, Emperor Jingping died, and his young master succeeded him. The next year, he changed his name to Longxing. Not more than a year later, the Northern Qi army approached the capital, and the young emperor fled south to his capital, Linzhou.

In the thirty-fourth year of Longxing, Linzhou fell, and Emperor Longxing, his concubines, and ministers burned themselves in the palace city. At this point, Xia was completely destroyed, and the people of the mountains and rivers fell into the hands of foreigners.

Three years later.

"Let me go, let me go -" Linzhou City has long since returned to the bustling streets, and a pretty girl struggled with all her strength to ask for help from passers-by.

The man in rich clothes glanced at the passers-by coldly, knocked the girl unconscious with his hand, put her on his shoulder, and left in a swaggering manner.

In the crowd, someone couldn't help but took a step forward, but was held tightly by others: "Don't give up your life, that is a noble man. Let alone take away a civilian girl, even if you kill someone in the street, you don't have to pay with your life!"

Killing for life has always been a matter of course, but now the world has changed. Qi people can reduce their crimes by killing Xia people.

The street was suffocatingly quiet for a while, with only one embroidered shoe lying alone on the ground, reminding everyone of the death of a young girl in her prime.

There was a sudden sob, and someone who couldn't control it cried out, and soon the sound disappeared again. People dispersed in silence, and the three people who were still standing stood out.

Among the three, the white-haired old man turned his head and nodded slightly to the young man next to him: "Finally, I can calm down."

The young man lowered his eyes and was speechless, clenching the hands hanging by his sides tightly.

"Let's go." The old man took the first step.

He looked very old, but his pace was not slow. The young man walked beside him, and the tall middle-aged man followed behind him. The three of them walked through the streets and alleys without stopping, and what finally appeared in front of them was a vast expanse of ruins.

There was no one here and there was no sound. Suddenly, a bird flew over. It seemed that it smelled an ominous atmosphere and hurriedly spread its wings and flew away.

The young man looked at the collapsed temple and the charred masonry, and the fire three years ago seemed to reappear before his eyes.

Many people were screaming, wailing, and rolling, but the emperor standing in the fire remained silent and turned his gaze in her direction.

Later she thought that the reason why people could endure the pain of being burned by fire was probably because the pain of country subjugation was too painful.

"Ah Heng——" the old man called out the boy's name, "change your clothes and go home."

The word "go home" was like a thin needle piercing the young man's heart, causing her to come back to her senses instantly: "Can I...really be able to go back?" She spoke in a hesitant tone, and it turned out to be a girl.

A smile appeared on the old man's solemn face: "It's time, go home."

The girl no longer hesitated, carrying her baggage around to a broken wall, and soon she changed into women's clothes and came out.

Wearing a green cloth dress and a double bun, it couldn't be a simpler look.

It was how she came here ten years ago.

Ten years seemed to be frozen in her body.

Similarly, the Magpie Lake in the back garden of the palace has not changed much. Even though the fire destroyed everything, the Magpie Lake in front of us is still sparkling and the clear water is quiet.

The girl unconsciously took a step closer and turned around again.

"Go." The old man raised his hand, relief, reluctance, heaviness, pain, all kinds of emotions flashed through his eyes, extremely complicated.

The girl pursed her lips, knelt down, and put her forehead to the ground: "Sir, take care."

She raised her head and looked at the middle-aged man who had been silent with tearful eyes: "Uncle Fu, take care."

The middle-aged man's voice was hoarse and he could not hide his trembling: "Ah Heng, you should also take care of yourself."

The girl quickly turned around and tried her best to control her trembling body and jumped into the lake.

The tears that had never been shed in front of the old man and the middle-aged man finally burst out and merged into the cold lake water.

Overhead, various combinations of official positions, customs, etc. serve the plot. See you again, hello everyone.
