Pile-legged offshore platforms generally refer to self-lift offshore platforms. After arriving at the operation location, the pile legs of the platform will be lowered to the seabed.
Under softer seabed geological conditions, the pile legs will gradually insert into the subsea soil layer based on their own weight and the pressure provided by the platform. This process is similar to pile driving, which can allow the pile legs to penetrate into the seabed for a certain depth and provide stable support for the platform.
If the seabed geology is hard, it may be necessary to use special pile driving equipment to assist the pile legs into the seabed, such as using pile hammers and other equipment to hammer the pile legs to overcome soil resistance and reach the designed soil in-ground depth to ensure the stability and safety of the platform during operation.
Obviously, the seabed of Qiongzhou Strait is a soft seabed of silt and sand, and does not require pile driving and fixing. You only need to use the pile foot of the platform to insert the sediment layer under the seabed.
If it is an ordinary bridge, this solution cannot be adopted at all, because the weight of the ordinary bridge is too large and the offshore platform may be crushed into the seabed.
Only by using silicon foam material to compress the overall weight can we consider using this method to replace fixed reinforced concrete piers with offshore platforms.
The high strength of silicon foam material can also make the cable-stayed bridges very large span, avoiding the need to build a large number of offshore platforms to squeeze together.
Since this mobile offshore platform is adopted, it will bring an advantage.
Just don't have to worry about earthquakes.
The reason why there is no need to worry about earthquakes for movable maritime platforms is that there is no rigid connection between the entire platform and the seabed.
