Chapter 76 Knowledge Monopoly
The Pearl of Light is just a simple magic item with the [Light Spell] attached.
[Light] (Evocation, level 0):
You touch an object whose size does not exceed 10 feet in any direction. Until the spell ends, the object emits bright light within a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.
The color of the light is up to you. When the object is completely covered by something opaque, its light is blocked.
The spell ends if you cast it again or use an action to dismiss it.
A 0-ring trick with a similar effect to the flash spell was slightly improved by the alchemist and made into a magic item called a bright bead similar to a "rechargeable desk lamp".
The damage is only partially due to wear and tear of the runes.
The degree of damage was extremely small. Goude used [Repair +] and it was done in a few seconds.
Just to hide his methods, Gaode stayed in the workshop for fifteen minutes and deliberately lost some materials to give the illusion of a normal repair process before leaving the workshop.
But even so, it seems to be too fast.
After all, Gothe has never seen a real repair craftsman repair magic items.
In a moment, Bass, wearing a long robe, came pacing over with bright eyes, and the suspicion from before was nowhere to be seen on his face.
“Did I pass the assessment?” Gaode asked knowingly.
“Of course!” Bass stepped forward excitedly, held Gothe’s hand and said, “Welcome to join the Craftsmen’s Guild.”
"What do I call you?"
"Google Ditu." Gaode reported his famous pseudonym as usual.
"Anna, help Mr. Google register the craftsmen. In addition, Mr. Google does not need to pay membership fees. Remember to leave a piece for him at the top of the notice board at the door."
When he left the craftsmen's guild with satisfaction, Gothe's identity had become a restoration craftsman recognized by the Bremen City Craftsmen's Guild.
He will enjoy the "legal and economic protection" of the union, stable and preferential sources of materials and vast customer resources, and participate in regular activities held by the guild
Best of all, these are free!
As a senior member of the guild, Mr. Bass waived his first year's membership dues.
And, starting from tomorrow, at the top of the notice board at the entrance of the craftsmen's guild, there will be a notice that will last for a week:
"Google·Ditu, our guild will be new Registered repair craftsman, undertaking the repair of 0-level and 1-level spell items, with reasonable fees and superb skills. He lives at No. 437, Carmond Street, and his working hours are from 9 am to 5 pm, with a two-hour break at noon.”
< br>Gothe's next destination is the Bremen Mages Association.
The three major mage associations in the city are all located in the Shenliu District.
It is still a public carriage, and the full ticket is still 4 copper coins.
Nearly forty minutes later, Gaode got off the bus and walked for another five or six minutes before arriving at his destination:
No. 3 Shenliu Street.
What comes into view is an ancient and solemn single-family building.
Even in the deep flow area where every inch of land is at a premium, the Bremen Mage Association still has its own three-story building that occupies a large area.
This shows its strength and financial resources.
The Bremen Mage Association is the undoubted leader among the three major mage associations in the city of Bremen, and the reason is very simple:
It is an official organization.
The main body of the building is made of dark stone, and complex magic runes are carved on the stone walls.
The roof of the building is covered with blue glazed tiles, which shine charmingly in the sun.
There are several mechanical birds hovering on the ridge of the roof. They are a kind of magical creation and play a role similar to the "eyes in the sky"
The door is made of bronze and is now open. There is also a conspicuous sign hanging above it:
A bird spreading its wings and ready to fly.
Gaode stepped into the door of the Bremen Mages Association.
As soon as you enter the door, a faint scent of lavender greets you.
The first floor of the Bremen Mages Association is an extremely wide hall. There were not many people inside the hall, and most of them were sitting quietly doing their own business.
Hearing the footsteps, some people looked up and continued to do their own things, while others were still immersed in their own things.
Gaode silently walked to the counter.
The young lady in charge of the reception raised her head, looked at Gaode, and asked:
"Sir, what do you need? Do you need to rent a magic circle, or hire a mage to solve the problem?"
" Are there any magic formulas for sale here?" Gothe asked casually.
There is no doubt that the Bremen Mages Association, as the official Mages Association, has the legal right to sell spell formulas.
This is the convenience of a big city. It is definitely not comparable to that of a small city where people with money have no formal channels to purchase spell formulas.
That’s right, it’s Hogan City!
Hearing Gaode's question, the young lady with brown hair opened the drawer of the counter, took out a small book, put it on the counter and pushed it towards Gaode:
"Of course, sir, All the spell formulas sold by this association are listed above, you can take a look."
Gaode opened the book with interest.
It can be found that the spell formulas listed in the book are only level 0 and level 1.
"Aren't there any spells above level 1?" Gothe said in surprise.
Logically speaking, there must be many mages above level 1 in the city of Bremen.
Logically speaking, there should be spell formulas for level 1 and above for sale.
The young lady was not impatient and explained patiently: "According to regulations, our authority to sell spell formulas to external parties is limited to 0-level magic and 1-level spells."
"Only Only the Saint Sean Mage Association has the authority to sell 2-level spell formulas.”
"Going further up, it's not for sale."
So level 2 mages can only buy spell formulas from the Saint-Sean Mages Association? It doesn't seem strange.
The upper class’s monopoly on knowledge in this world is extremely serious, let alone the most precious knowledge such as magic formulas.
The Mage Association can sell spell formulas to the outside world, which is already the result of games and compromises.
After all, if the official channels are completely blocked, it will lead to the proliferation of private trading of spell formulas.
Besides, since someone has to make this money, why don’t the authorities keep it under control?
Thinking like this, Gaode has already taken advantage of the situation and started browsing the book carefully:
0-ring magic: [Dancing Lights], [Detect Magic], [Mage's Hand], [Repair] [Magic], [Magic Trick], [Reading Magic], [Light], [Spark], [Detect Poison], [Switch], [Communication], [Blade Protection].
Level 1 spells: [Tolerate the environment], [Grease], [Identification], [Language proficiency], [Hypnosis], [Water Impact], [Magic Aura], [Fear], [Erasure Technique].
“That’s all?” Gothe raised his head again in surprise.
After successfully constructing the three spell models of [Water Making], [North Pointing] and [Purifying Food] presented by Pierre, his spell library has been expanded to 15 spells.
The number of 0-level spell formulas sold by a spell association is not even comparable to its own spell library?
How is this possible?
And it is obvious that most of these spells are functional spells, not a single damage spell.
“Yes, that’s it.”
The young lady said calmly: "The spell formulas sold by our Mage Association are the most complete in Bremen."
"If you go to the Ancient Books Guardian Association or the Emerald Alliance, you will find the spells they sell. There are even fewer types of recipes.”
