Chapter 14 Tombstone
I used to live at my aunt’s house. My cousin got sleepy from doing homework at night and fell asleep on the table.
My aunt was worried that he would catch a cold, so she would bring out a blanket to cover him, which made him a little envious.
Ji Tingyang also hopes that someone can do this to him, but he is the eldest of the three siblings, and he is usually the one who covers his sleeping younger siblings.
When she first met Wen Li, she covered him up once. Wen Li's appearance seemed to fill a certain regret in his heart.
Later, he saw his aunt praising his cousin for winning the first prize. He also took his certificate to Wen Li, hoping to get the same praise.
My aunt celebrated her cousin’s birthday, and she also went to see Wenli on his birthday...
But then Wenli’s attention shifted from him to a poor boy, and when he thought of this last Ji Tingyang was afraid that any warmth would be deprived of him.
He locked Wenli in the villa, as if he could capture the last bit of warmth in this way. But in the end, Wen Li became more and more afraid of him, and the remaining warmth disappeared.
The more he tries to keep something, the more it will leave him.
Wen Li is like this, and so are his younger brothers and sisters...
In a daze, Ji Tingyang closed the blanket around him, and his body's fatigue was relieved. He put the tip of his nose on the blanket and smelled it, and he felt so warm.
"There are still some documents that I haven't finished reading. I'll go back to my room and sleep after I finish reading." His voice sounded lazily like he had just woken up.
I spent the whole day with Lin Xu, but the work is not finished yet.
"Okay." Lin Xu didn't force him, he just asked him to pay attention to his health and went back to rest.
Ji Tingyang twisted the blanket on his body, and with a thought in his heart, he subconsciously called her, "Mom..."
Lin Xu turned around: "Huh?"
Ji Tingyang's throat rolled: "I I want to eat noodles..."
My aunt used to feel sorry for her cousin who finished his homework too late, so she would cook him a bowl of noodles.
He hasn't eaten yet.
After calling Lin Xu, he felt a little uneasy. For this kind of thing, it was enough to just call Mrs. Zhang, and there was no need for her at all.
What if Lin Xu gets angry and finds him troublesome?
Lin Xu was surprised, but found it novel.
She had seen little Ji Tingyang act like a baby many times, but this was the first time for the boss Ji Tingyang to act like a baby.
Lin Xu smiled: "Okay, I'll cook it right away."
After saying that, he left the study.
Ji Tingyang looked at the documents on the table and read them all before getting ready to eat noodles. But on the way, he would look up at the door from time to time. His mind was obviously not on this.
After reading it for more than ten minutes, I haven’t finished reading the first line.
In less than half an hour, Ji Tingyang felt for the first time that his days felt like years.
As he looked around, Lin Xu finally came in with a bowl of chopped green onion noodles.
The mouth of the bowl was too hot, so she hurriedly put it on the table when she came in, and the unread document became a pad of paper.
Lin Xu didn't see it, but Ji Tingyang noticed it and it didn't matter.
"How about a taste?" Lin Xu said excitedly.
Lin Xu rarely goes into the kitchen. The family is the type of family that raises a daughter, so she is not required to cook. Later, when she got married, she tried frying a plate of sweet and sour pork ribs for her husband once or twice.
The plate of pork ribs didn’t look good and tasted even worse.
Her confidence took a hit and she never set foot in the kitchen again.
For today's bowl of noodles, Lin Xu was fully prepared. He also searched for recipes from famous chefs and followed them, so it took him twice as long to make them.
With Lin Xu's expectation, Ji Tingyang picked up his chopsticks and took a bite, without hesitation, "It's delicious."
Lin Xu was suspicious: "Really?"
Ji Tingyang smiled: "Really." It's just an ordinary bowl of chopped green onion noodles. No matter how poorly made it is, it won't taste bad, let alone what Ji Tingyang has been looking forward to for a long time.
As if to prove his words, Ji Tingyang finished the noodles in a few seconds, even the noodle soup.
"If you like it, I'll cook it for you next time!" Lin Xu said happily.
Of course Ji Tingyang is willing: "Okay!"
This long-lost warmth seems to be back.
——
It had been more than a week since Lin Xu came back. After she settled down, she had the idea of wanting to meet her parents.
Ji Tingyang hesitated for a moment and told her that her grandparents had passed away long ago.
Lin Xu was the only daughter in her family. Not long after she died in a car accident, her parents died within a year of each other due to excessive grief.
Ji Tingyang paid attention to her expression as she spoke, worried that she would cry.
Although Lin Xu was sad, he had already had vague suspicions in his heart.
If her parents were still alive, how could they let her children stay in other people's homes.
"Grandpa and grandma are buried in Nanshan Cemetery. Let's go there and take a look together?" Ji Tingyang said cautiously.
“Okay.”
Nanshan Cemetery is located in the suburbs, occupying a large area and decorated with pleasant scenery.
When passing by the flower shop at the gate, Lin Xu asked him to stop and went in to buy two bouquets of white chrysanthemums.
Then he and Ji Tingyang walked in one behind the other.
The tombstones of his parents are adjacent to each other. Looking at the photos on the tombstones, Lin Xu's eyes turned red, and his depressed mood finally couldn't help but make him melancholy.
For her, only a short week passed, and in a blink of an eye they were lying in the cemetery.
Half a month later, she called her parents who were traveling and said that she wanted to eat the pumpkin pie made by her mother. The day before her car accident, her parents just came back from a trip and told her that they had bought pumpkins and they would make pumpkin cakes for her when she came back.
She smiled and said that she would go there with her family of five the next day. However, she was unable to take a bite of the pumpkin pie in the end, and she was separated from yin and yang.
Twenty years ago it was they who came to visit her at the cemetery, and twenty years later it was she who came to visit them.
The breeze caressed her cheek, blowing the tears accumulated in her eyes and falling to the ground.
Because Lin Xu wanted to talk to her parents alone, Ji Tingyang stood at the intersection waiting for her.
He looked worriedly towards Lin Xu and touched his empty pocket. He took out his mobile phone and wondered whether he should ask the driver to bring a pack of tissues.
A message suddenly popped up on the screen, from Wen Li. Just a few days ago, when Ji Tingyang mentioned the blacklist, she released him first.
"I have something to do today and I can't catch up with the gate. Can I be late?"
Ji Tingyang frowned. There happened to be an update in her circle of friends, so she clicked in.
There is a picture in it that captures half of a man's body. You don't have to think twice to know that it must be Xiao Yu.
Ji Tingyang's first reaction was no, he wanted to trap the warmth that belonged to him. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Lin Xu walking towards him.
Somehow, the dark mood faded away. He casually replied with the word "hmm", then put the phone back into his pocket and walked towards Lin Xu.
"Go back?"
Lin Xu shook his head: "Take me to see the tombstones of your father and I."
She remembered that Ji Tingyang said that she Her husband's tombstone was also buried here.
