Chapter 88 Trust and Choice
The soldiers led by the king held their spears listlessly and looked at the sealed Red Fort gate from a distance. The rust-like luster made all arrows and crossbows flinch.
Ser Arys Oakheart is standing behind Sansa. He is wearing a white cloak made of light wool at the moment. The golden scarf that belongs to the oak emblem of the Oakheart family is wrapped around his neck. His light brown hair looks like this at the moment. With a very handsome face, Sansa looked at the fierce-looking soldiers of the city guard and the royal soldiers around her, and took the first step in fear.
"It's okay, my lady," Ser Arys said, his tone was very gentle, much better than Ser Meryn Trant, "I am the Kingsguard and I will protect you."
Sansa nodded timidly. She looked at Arys' slightly handsome face in front of everyone around him and chose to believe it.
Alex picked up the longbow, drew the bowstring, and shot the arrow into the Red Keep.
"King Robert was killed by a wild boar, how could he be Duke Eddard Stark?" Barristan Selmy stood in front of King Joffrey and Queen Cersei and asked in confusion.
"No one knows my husband better than I do, Ser Barristan." Cersei said seriously, looking at the white knight in front of her.
"I do not deny this, Queen, but it is a legitimate question, as this accusation," Barristan paused, "is, with all due respect, unfounded."
"My father Robert held an invincible warhammer. How could he be killed by a wild boar? I also want to ask you, where were you when my father was killed?" Joffrey stood up and almost roared at Barristan. explain.
Barristan lowered his head and knelt on one knee, his white robe covering the ground, stained with black ash.
"This is my dereliction of duty, King Joffrey." The white knight's old voice expressed shame and helplessness.
"This is your dereliction of duty!" Joffrey stretched his waist forward as if bowing, his face flushed, and this roar interrupted Cersei's preparation to speak.
Barristan pursed his lips, stood up slowly, and stepped aside silently.
"I'm sorry, Ser Barristan," Cersei said to Barristan hypocritically, feeling happy when she saw Barristan obeying Joffrey's majesty. She couldn't hold back the smile on her face, "My husband is unfortunate. Passed away at the hands of Eddard Stark, who seeks to destroy the foundation of his kingdom, Prince Joffrey needs your services."
Barristan took a deep breath. "It is the duty of the Kingsguard to serve the king. However," he looked at Cersei, "as a king, you should not use a little girl to achieve your goals."
Cersei knew that he was referring to Sansa. Before she could speak, Joffrey took the lead and asked, "Sansa? Come on, for the traitors of the kingdom and for the Starks, any means is bright."

Joffrey looked at the silent Archbishop and raised his eyebrows, "Am I right? The spokesperson of the Seven Gods?"
"The King's words are from the bottom of his heart, and the Seven Gods and the world resonate with them. How correct." The Archbishop said with a bow.
Joffrey snorted, "Flattering gods."
Everyone in the room fell into an awkward silence, including Cersei herself.
Eddard uncovered the souvenir outside the Red Keep. It was undoubtedly Sansa's handwriting. The Lady raised her front paws high, put them on Eddard's cloth armor, sniffed the handwriting, and barked softly.
Jory ran over in small steps, "Sir, Miss Sansa is outside the Red Keep, and there are crossbowmen behind her."
"Damn it!" Ed scolded, "They are so despicable, using a little girl as a shield." His uneasiness became more and more obvious. This really made Varys right. Cersei used Sansa as a threat to force her to He admitted the unfounded charges.
"Father!" Sansa's voice grew harsher as it approached from a distance.
Ed looked at the door of the Red Castle, the sword in his hand trembling slightly.
Qiao Li suddenly drew out his sword, "Master! The people of the North cannot accept this insult. Let us go out and snatch the young lady back!"
"Lady" bared her teeth and let out a low whimper in her throat, which was a signal that she was about to hunt.
"Please believe me, Lord Stark."
The voice of the eight-clawed spider rang in his ears, as if he was still in the dark corridor of the Red Keep. Ed thought of the analysis that Varys gave him, and it made sense.
"Father!" Sansa's voice sounded again, and the sound of arrows even exploded in Eddard's ears.
"Sansa!" Eddard shouted urgently, running towards the walls of the Red Keep.
Jory and a group of Winterfell guards quickly followed behind.
Sansa was wearing a blue dress and huddled on the street outside the Red Keep. Behind her was a golden robe holding a spear, and an executioner holding a crossbow.
"Sansa!" Eddard shouted, and in just a moment, the crossbows were aimed at Eddard, and the dazzling sunlight shining on the arrows reflected the light in Jory's eyes.
"Sir!" Jory pulled Ed away to avoid the threat of the crossbow. "Lord Eddard Stark!" Ser Arys shouted under the Red Keep. "This is the king's order, and I have to obey it." There seemed to be resentment in his tone, resentment towards the king.
"If you don't want to shed blood and sacrifice, and don't want your daughter to be humiliated, please open the gate of the Red Castle, plead guilty and surrender." Sir Alex said, swallowing his throat.
Ser Arys took off his iron gauntlet, "I'm sorry, my lady."
Sansa opened her beautiful eyes, Queen Cersei, King Joffrey, her king did not tell her about this situation, "Sir, I."
A slap hit Sansa hard on the face. Half of Sansa's face suddenly became red and swollen, making her almost forget to breathe.
Marin Tran stood behind Alex, "I'm afraid this is not enough. The king will be dissatisfied when he sees it."
Sir Alex looked at his sworn brother with sharp eyes that were intent on killing.
"Sorry, miss." Arys's voice was very soft, but at this time it was like the whisper of a devil in the black hole of hell. Sansa shook her head, with tears in her eyes, "No, ser."
"Pah!" Another slap in the face.
Eddard looked at Sansa in pain. Through the gaps in the wall, Sansa looked towards the tower, looking for herself.
"Father!" Sansa cried again, helpless, hopeless, and nowhere to be found.
I am the Lord of Winterfell, Warden of the North, Hand of the King to King Robert
I am the Lord of Winterfell, Warden of the North, Robert's Hand of the King, and Hand of the King.
I am
I'm still Sansa's father, the Stark wolf.
Hot tears flowed from Ed's eyes. He bit his lip and put a hand on Jory's shoulder.
"Strictly guard the Red Keep and stay behind closed doors." Ed said, as if he was grinding his own teeth.
He did not open the gates of the Red Fort.
It was late at night and the Red Fort was silent.
Jory squatted next to Ed and nodded solemnly.
"Believe in your lord, I will come back and take you home." Ed said.
"Don't worry, sir, we will defend the Red Castle." Qiao Li said.
Ed nodded. He arranged the chainmail and cloth-lined armor on his body. Qiao Li handed the giant sword "Ice" to Ed.
Ed paused for a few moments, nodded, and picked up "Ice"
The corridor was deep, and Varys stood in the darkness.
"Thank you for your service to the kingdom, Lord Eddard Stark," Varys said. "Please come with me."
The stench filled the corridor, and Ed frowned.
"I'm sorry to put you in this predicament, Lord Eddard Stark, but choices have to be made," Varys said, smiling.
Eddard shook his head, "I hope you can take me out of King's Landing. I want to find Stannis and Attis Arryn to force King's Landing to release Sansa and my guards on the condition of peace."
Varys seemed to be very happy, "There is nothing better than this, Lord Ed."
The thick wooden board was pushed away by Varys, and the stars in the sky were framed by the painting. Eddard got out, and the wall of the Red Keep was on his left. He thought that if Varys and Cersei teamed up, they could lead troops into the Red Castle from here. castle, then his attendants would be even more dangerous.
He looked at the eunuch whom he had hated so much before, swallowed his throat, and said, "It seems that I can trust you, Varys."
"Spiders can never be completely trusted. This is a regret in my life. However," Varys did not look back, "it is an honor for me to have Lord Ed's trust."
Ed stood up and walked forward. Drowsiness suddenly hit the back of his head. A heavy pain came from the back of his head. He was swaying. The ground appeared in front of him and he fell to the ground.
"Next, just trust me completely. I will protect you, Duke Ed." Varys looked at Ed with a smile and folded his hands.
