Chapter 20 The start of new industry
In a blink of an eye, November 15th came.
Jiang Miao came to the cannery to inspect.
"Boss, this is our newly purchased soft-pack canning production line..." Li Xinhua put on protective clothing and a breathing mask and introduced him to the production line.
This production line does not have much automated equipment. The core is sterilization equipment and packaging equipment. The other parts are all operated manually.
It's not that Hailufeng Company can't afford automation equipment, but that automation equipment is not cost-effective, and sometimes the size of the staff is also an advantage.
Jiang Miao also wore protective clothing and a respiratory helmet, and picked up a bag of kabayaki eel. This is a whole eel, mainly supplied to sushi restaurants and Japanese food restaurants.
"Is this the first batch of officially produced products?"
"Yes, I have arranged 2,000 copies for the first batch to test the market's reaction."
Jiang Miao nodded: "Okay, you can contact the online store department! By the way, how is the eel stock?"
Li Xinhua immediately explained: "Currently, the farm is culling 5,000 eels every half month, and the tinplate canning production line can consume 1,000 eels per day; plus the soft-pack canning production line can also consume 1,000 eels per day, and the inventory can only support two or three. In order to save costs, I first arranged the production of tinplate cans, then stopped production, and assigned employees to the soft-pack cans. This can ensure 10 days of production time per month.”
Jiang Miao actually knew this.
There is no problem with Li Xinhua's strategy. Anyway, some production line employees in the cannery are paid two weeks' wages. After working on the production line for one month, they will be paid one month's wages.
At present, employees in the canning production line are basically at the D1 level, with a monthly salary of 3,500 yuan, including food and housing.
If you work for two weeks, it will be calculated as half a month, and the actual payment will be 1,750 yuan. The five insurances will be paid by the company and do not need to be deducted from the employee's basic salary.
It doesn't look high, but many locals still flock to it.
The main reason is that food is guaranteed, and the company provides five insurances. If they can work for a full month, many production line employees are actually willing. However, the farm does not have so many cull eels, so they can only produce for one week and rest for one week.
After Jiang Miao inspected the cannery, he took the car directly to the breeding farm.
The new breeding base is still being constructed overtime.
The open-air fish ponds that were plated were also put into use one after another. The mature eels purchased from various places were put back into the open-air fish ponds for customized feeding.
These things have been managed by my brother-in-law and father, who came directly to his seed laboratory.
At present, the first batch of planted strawberries have begun to bloom, and some of the early-maturing types have now begun to bear strawberries.
A middle-aged employee who was responsible for the daily work of the greenhouse quickly put down the shower when he saw him coming.
"Boss."
"Old Lin, how are the strawberries going today?"
Lao Lin quickly said: "Boss, some strawberries should be ripe today."
Jiang Miao went to the container room to get a sweetness meter and a record book.
Li Wenna also helped to get a portable plastic box, which contained small boxes with labels, scissors, and paper towels.
Walking into the greenhouse, 35 varieties of strawberry seedlings have been separated into small areas with plastic films as partitions to avoid mutual pollination and affect the genetic purity of the varieties.
At present, through successive stolon propagation, seven or eight plants of each variety have been cultivated.
The ones that have matured fruit this time are all the old plants from the beginning, and the newly cultivated ramets will take at least a month to bear fruit.
"Boss, this is the breed."
Jiang Miao glanced at the label on the planting bag: C12
There are 6 strawberries hanging from the base of the strawberry stolons, 3 red and 3 green. One of the red strawberries was indeed ripe because he saw the data on the identification panel.
Picking them with scissors, he washed them a little, then cut the strawberries into five parts, leaving one part as seeds. He picked up another part and squeezed out the juice, dripping it on the sweetness meter.
The sweetness is 14.8, which is not bad. Although it is not as good as the top Dandong strawberry, Jiang Miao pays more attention to its fruit shape, because the specialty of this variety is its large fruit and storage resistance.
"Try it."
The three of them tasted it carefully.
"It's very sweet, but contains a little acidity, and the pulp is relatively firm." Li Wenna expressed her feelings.
"Yeah, it's really sweet." Lao Lin was like Zhu Bajie eating ginseng fruit, mainly swallowing jujubes.
Jiang Miao carefully held the pulp on his tongue and tasted the various flavors in it.
First it is sweet, then slightly sour, followed by the unique aroma of strawberry. This aroma is more like a combination of cantaloupe and jasmine, but the aroma is relatively light and needs to be tasted carefully to feel it.
Fill in these flavor evaluations one by one in the record book.
Immediately afterwards, 11 more varieties with ripe fruits were found. Samples were also taken, sugar tested, tasted, and recorded.
Through this real evaluation, he directly eliminated three varieties because the flavors of those three varieties were very strange. One had a slight muddy taste, one had an obvious bitter taste, and the other tasted as light as water.
The more valuable varieties are C22 and C26.
The flavor of C22 is highly similar to Zhangji strawberry, but the creamy flavor is more prominent. It is also resistant to high heat and can withstand the high temperature of 35 degrees Celsius in Lingnan summer, thus ensuring sweetness, disease resistance, flavor and yield.
The flavor of C26 is different from previous strawberries. This variety has a unique vanilla flavor and a flavor similar to passion fruit. Its only weakness is that it cannot withstand high temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius, so it can only be grown in the winter in Lingnan.
Of course, the remaining seven varieties actually have their advantages.
For example, the C12 we tried at the beginning has relatively large fruits, which can reach the size of duck eggs, and the yield is also very high. It is estimated that the greenhouse yield per mu can reach about 4.5 tons to 5 tons.
Coupled with the fact that C12 has good flavor and sweetness, is also resistant to high temperatures in Lingnan summers, and is resistant to storage, this variety also has commercial value.
After Jiang Miao tasted the first batch of varieties, he recorded the relevant evaluation data and had already made a plan in his mind.
First of all, the greenhouses in the breeding farms are definitely not enough.
After all, a mature strawberry contains 150 to 200 seeds. With stolon propagation, a large number of strawberry seedlings can be cultivated quickly.
Calculated based on an average of 5,000 to 6,000 strawberry seedlings per mu.
Currently, there are at least five or six varieties that need to be initially expanded in greenhouses, and each variety requires at least 5 acres of land.
In other words, at least 30 acres of land are needed.
Fortunately, Shiomachi Village has a lot of abandoned farmland. He plans to rent 100 acres of vegetable land nearby to build a strawberry greenhouse base.
With a planting base, whether it is selling strawberries directly or exporting strawberry seedlings, it will be a good business in the future.
However, Jiang Miao did not intend to leave this matter to her brother-in-law and father. After all, one eel farm is busy enough, and if you add a strawberry base, it is easy to be careless about the beginning and the end.
Therefore, he planned to find another manager to manage the strawberry base.
Fortunately, the company has gradually matured. Jiang Miao directly ordered Li Wenna to inform Jiang Haibo of the Human Resources Department to recruit an outsider with farm management experience.
At the same time, Li Wenna was asked to inform Wang Feng of the purchasing department to rent a vegetable land of about 100 acres in Yanding Village or several nearby villages in Magong Town as a strawberry planting base.
